Who is developing the SMILES project?
Fundación Goteo / Platoniq
Fundación Goteo designs digital participatory processes and facilitates innovative participation methodologies to create more democratic and just societies and organisations, using open civic technologies. The foundation is also the founder of the civic crowdfunding platform Goteo.org, through which it finances initiatives with collective return and strengthens the Social and Solidarity Economy. Goteo promotes transparency, the collaborative and ethical economy, democratic innovation and the replicability of experiences. It is financed through alliances with public and private institutions that share its mission and vision. The Foundation has 20 hired people distributed between the Barcelona and Palma offices and several collaborators in Spain and other European countries.
In January 2021, Goteo merged with Platoniq, which since 2005 has been carrying out activities and projects on cultural heritage, collaboration and exchange, applying the social uses of the ICTs and networking to improve co-creation, self-training, social entrepreneurship and citizen organisation. .
Currently, the team is dedicated to developing the concept of Crowdvocacy as a distributed but coordinated process between different platforms where civic initiatives increase their influence. In this context, on the one hand, the foundation is working closely with digital platforms for citizen participation such as Decidim. On the other hand, the Goteo platform, with more than 200,000 users and more than 1,000 financed projects, has specialised in promoting innovative and transformative initiatives with a social impact in the territory, based on the visualisation of their social commitments or the relationship of these with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
