Media and Learning Association
The Media & Learning Association (MLA) or to give it its full name the MEDEA: MEDIA & LEARNING ivzw is an international, not-for-profit association set up in 2012 under Belgian law to promote and stimulate the use of media as a way to enhance innovation and creativity in teaching and learning across all levels of education in Europe. By the end of 2020, the association represented 48 organisational, 4 networking and 6 sponsoring members from 18 countries. Members include national and regional agencies charged with the promotion of innovation in teaching and learning as well as universities, ministries of education and schools networks including a significant number involved in media literacy. The association was set up originally as a way to sustain and develop European collaboration and came about as a way to exploit the outcomes of several European initiatives and to provide a permanent and sustainable way for members to cooperate. The association operates under the leadership of an elected board and had its most recent annual general meeting in July 2021, see https://media-and-learning.eu/about/ for a list of board members. Members pay an annual fee which meets the cost of the association's secretariat which is currently hosted by ATiT in Roosbeek, Belgium. ATiT is responsible for the operational management of the association, Sally Reynolds from ATiT acts as the association's Chief Operational Officer and is directly responsible to the Board of the Association which meets on a monthly basis.
